So to start, on the day we began filming (which was yesterday), I ran into a couple of problems. One of them being the footage. Today I decided to check all my footage so I could clear out some of the bloopers and bad takes; unfortunately, when I was going through them, I realized I wasn't actually filming. To be more clear for certain shots, when I thought I was hitting record, I was actually stopping the recording. So I should have been more aware, but I guess I was just so focused on trying to get everything right with the timing. I most definitely needed to learn more about how to work the camera before I began my filming.
So to fix this, I am having my actress come back for another filming day so we can redo the scenes that I missed.
With this opportunity, I am also going to be using this extra filming day to redo some of the scenes that may have looked rushed or done poorly. This turned out to be useful because not only did I not record some of the scenes, but a lot of them did turn out to be pretty bad. I mean, it is my first time creating a film, like ever, so I need to try not to be to hard on myself and learn to be more organized with my work.
Another issue was the lighting. Since my scene is supposed to be set around the times of 12-2 pm, I obviously need it to be daylight outside. But since some scenes took long and not only my camera died towards the ending scenes, I was on a major time crush and ended up having to work around there being daylight. So luckily I will be able to fix those shots now that I am redoing the scenes.
And one of the last issues I noticed was the script and the way I filmed them. To me, the clips with script in them seemed choppy and obvious that it was scripted. So this second time I will be more aware and fix my script to be more like an actual conversation. I also forgot to use the mics when recording, so now I will remember to use them so that my audio is more clear and enjoyable.
So lets just say you won't always get everything on the first try, and its okay to make mistakes. I will definetly be fixing these issues when I redo the filming!
