Start of my CCR Research

Hey guys, In this blog, I will be discussing the start of my research for the CCR.

The CCR is where we are given four different questions about our film openings, and we have to answer them either in an interview or podcast, etc. We must make two separate presentations to answer two of the questions in each.

For mine, I think I will do an interview first. This is the first question:

- How does your product use or challenge conventions, and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Conventions:

My product challenges conventions by showing a protagonist (Maya) ignoring her phone's notifications. So instead of Maya reacting with urgency, like most teenagers would if they were receiving a bunch of notifications, she ignores it and stays unfazed, continuing the rest of her day. This goes against the usual idea of people who are attached and consumed in their phones.

Representation:

My film represents social groups and issues of online mistaken identity. The controversial photo in the film of "Maya" is actually not her but her twin sister that would have been developed and understood later in the film. The fact that Maya's best friend "Bri" thought it was Maya highlights how easily digital images can mislead us. Exploring the complexity of identity as Maya struggles to distinguish between herself and someone who looks exactly like her.

I obviously need more information but this is what I found so far and what I've come up with to explain my first question for the CCR.
